A finish and a question

but probably not the finish you were expecting :) Yes, Fred is still languishing. The striped bottom portion is almost as much a pain as the border was--but he will be done this month.

This was going to be my wip-of-the-month for February, but I picked it up on a whim and finished early. It is BBD's Valentine Rose, of course. I looked back through my blog and noticed that I had proclaimed this one "almost done" back in May of 2010. I'm so proud, it only took about 8 months to put the last few dozen stitches in it! The initials at the bottom are those of my grandmother, who lived in a fabulous old brick house much like this one back in Kutztown, PA--I thought of her and the house immediately when I saw this design. I haven't quite decided on my February wip but I think it might be Snow Garden.

Any takers for this chart? If so, please indicate in the comments that you want it. I will do the random number generator thing on the 27th if more than one person is interested.

For anyone who knows Gingher scissors, do you know/can you tell from my crappy picture which model these are? I bought them in 200_? , recently saw a pair (Julia) that I thought looked like it on eBay for some astronomical price, and was wondering if these could possibly be the same model. I tossed all the packaging and don't recall the name of mine. I just bought them because I thought they were cute.

I've logged about 38 miles through Middle Earth so far in the Walk to Rivendell Challenge. I hope to walk/run (though it's more walking than running, believe me) about 60+ miles per month, which will put me at Farmer Maggot's by the end of January, then it's on to Tom Bombadil's house and hopefully Bree by March.

That's about all for now. A completed Fred will be displayed in my next post!

Woohoo! Good for you :o)

Hmmmm....it's hard to tell from that picture. Is the background white behind the floral?

I'd love to have my name put in for the BBD chart :o) Thank you!

The Julia scissors are just blue and white--no pink. The ones you have are very pretty though!

Wonderful finish and I can't wait to see Fred. I don't know what the name of those scissors are. I can never remember what they're called after I buy them.

Don't enter me in for the chart as I already have it.

My Frederick is still lying about unfinished as well. Sigh. One day.
I would love to enter for the BBD chart. A finish is a finish - no matter how many months or years it takes to put in the last stitch! :)

Marjorie, your finish is beautiful. Where in Kutztown was your grandmothers house. I grew up in Berks County also. Not in Kutztown but not too far away either.

Congrats on a beautiful finish! I love, love, love BBD, and this one is a must-have. Please enter me in your random drawing. I have the same pair of Ginghers but bought them on eBay without the box and have no idea of the name of them. Sorry, but I can't help. I need to look up all the Ginghers and find mine.

Really beautiful finish. Would love a chance to have the chart. Have you tried looking at scissors on Shepherds Bush website? They sell ginger so might have the ones like yours.

The finish is beautiful and the meaning behind it is so sweet. What a treasure!

I am sorry, I have trouble keeping up with these ginghers and their names. Wish somehow the names of them would be etched on the blades, wouldn't that be grand?

Generous of you to share the chart with someone, please don't enter me though, as I already have a copy.
