I know, two posts in the course of a few days is unusual for me. With all my recent purchases I started feeling sorry for my older, unstitched charts, so I pulled one out, not expecting to finish before my new, irresistible goodies came in the mail...but my DS's baseball schedule this week consisted of --practice, game, practice, day off, and game, which gave me about 9 hours with my butt planted firmly in a folding chair, and therefore I am showing off my latest (unironed) finish. This is Pennsylvania Pillowe from
Notforgotten Farm, done mostly with the recommended threads on natural linen, except for the black for which I substituted an overdyed. Question: should I try to "age" this by dabbing a tea bag or splashing a little coffee on it, or leave it as it is? I kinda want to try but I am afraid that the black will bleed horribly and ruin it. Opinions anyone?
I have nothing else to show of my own, but DD got out her sock animal book again and whipped up this cute little squirrel. I think this is her best animal yet. She told me that his nuts are detatchable so I asked if he was married, lol.
That's it for now. Happy Spring everyone!

Nice finish! And cute squirrel -- I can see your daughter is crafty too! lol about the detachable nuts! :D
Haha... too funny about the nuts (I was thinking something similar as I read it).
Congrats on your finish.
Great finish....I wouldn't try to dye it now, I'm sure the black would run and ruin it.
ROFLMBO!!!! That is just TOO funny :o)
Lovely start. I'd be really worried about the black running but then again, I've never tried to tea dye anything.
Love the squirrel!! ROFL about is nuts...
Congrats on the finish.
wonderful stitching ---
IMO, if you used overdye, don't get it damp or wet
I like it as is, do you?
As for the sock animal, LOL!
Lovely finish!
I can't think of what I was going to say, now all I can think about are "detachable nuts"!!!
You might try using a q-tip to gently dab on some coffee or tea to age the piece - that way you could avoid touching the black threads.
ROTFL!! That's just about what my DH's co-workers said when he told them he bought a needlework store!! But not detachable, gone all together! LOL
As for the fabric, I'd just leave it the way it is. It's really nice.
Nice finish, could do with a 9hr stitching bee myself to finish a project. The squirrel is wonderful, your DD is very talented
Love your finish! I have this stitched but haven't finished it into pillow form yet. I echo what others have said... I think it looks good, and I don't think I'd take a chance on the overdyed black. You could spot dye other areas if you want, but I think it looks good as is!
Have a great weekend!
Great finish! What did you do about the staining. Probably if you used overdyed, it's best to stain before. But then that poses a problem because you don't know where you really want to stain it!
The squirrel is adorable. You have a very talented DD.
LOL! Love your Bucks County finish and your DD's finish is darling, nuts or no nuts!
lol.
Nice finish
Thanks for visiting and your sweet comment :)
I love your finish! Good ole baseball season, I remember it well ;) Your DD's finish is amazing! and I LOL'd about the nuts...you're right he must be married!
I want to see pics if you end up aging your canvas, as I have wanted to try it too but have been afraid...you go girl!
Hugs
Ma
I agree about not taking chances with the black overdyed thread. Can you possibly age it carefully enough that you are not near the black thread? Dabbing hot tea bags far enough away from the thread? I am trying to stop in and see bloggers who stop by to visit me and love the name of your blog! Making doll's quilt is a great way to get back into quilting as they are so small. DD has inherited your creative genes by the looks of that squirrel.
Hugs from Holland ~

Nice finish! I would leave it alone the color is fine.
Wonderful finish...I love it just as is. I'd be afraid the black would run and that would not be good.
Cute little squirrel...LOL and you know why.
Happy Easter to you...hugs, Linda
